I grew up in the rural Iowa town of Williamsburg, where I have been in the entertainment business since the young age of 14.  I started playing drums in my first country rock band in high school, from there I went on to play at the Iowa State Fair, did several auditions for Adventureland , and Opryland in Nashville TN where I was put on recall or 2nd runner up.  I played the local circuit with many local bands around Iowa.  Traveled with several road bands across the United States fronting shows for several Nashville recording acts, such as Dave and Sugar, The Whites, Hank Thompson, Shelly West, Freddy Fender, and many more.  The Story on how IRBD came about is a funny story.  I have always played drums in local bands, but when a couple of my best friends were getting married they came to me for advice on a band for their wedding, they could not believe the prices of local bands at the time. so I said "you know DJ's are becoming a thing now for weddings". Keep in mind this was back in 1988 when DJ's for weddings were not really heard of.  So they checked around and came back to me saying DJ's are also expensive, so I said "hey I own my own small PA we can all bring CD's and I will do your wedding for you.  Well once my mom heard I was doing a DJ job she was like " YOU NEED A NAME FOR YOUR DJ SERVICE"!!!!!  I said "mom this is a one time thing to help my friends out I said "I'd Rather Be Drumming".  Hence the name IRBD well here we are many years later and IRBD has stood the test of time.  We are still here and doing better than ever, we have all new lights and PA, unlimited song list, even have done Karaoke an several occasions.   So this website I have setup for a one stop shop for all my services I offer.  I hope to be of service to you and what ever your entertainment needs are....whether you need a DJ, a live band, a drummer or a sound and lighting system IRBD is here for you...check IRBD out for your next occasion.
